Author Q&A: Kate Rudolph

Hi again! We’re back for another Author Q&A and for April, we have author Kate Rudolph!

Kate Rudolph is an paranormal and sci-fi romance writer who lives in Indiana. She loves writing about kick butt heroines and the steamy heroes who love them. She’s been devouring romance novels since she was too young to be reading them and had to hide her books so no one would take them away. She couldn’t imagine a better job in this world than writing romances and sharing them with her fellow readers.

Author Q&A with Kate Rudolph

Q: Introduce us to the main characters in your book. Are they inspired by real life people?

Kate: Exile’s Hunter is the love story of Kenzie and Mad, two people who have lost everything and are trying to keep surviving. Kenzie is on the hunt for her younger sister who was abducted from Earth and on her search she finds Mad, and alien who’s been exiled to the planet of Guerran for military insubordination. Neither of them is looking for love, but it’s what they find when they get together. Well, it’s what they find once Mad finally convinces Kenzie to put her knives down. She’s a bit stab happy.

Q: What inspired you to write this book?

Kate:The words “Planet Exile” popped into my head and I had to follow the story from there.

Q: What is your favorite thing about this book?

Kate:Kenzie! Of course, I love all my characters equally, but Kenzie is special to me and I love her.

Q: Out of all the books you’ve written who is your favorite character?

Kate: Much like Kenzie, Vita from my book, Braxtyn holds a special place in my heart. She’s another tough woman who has seen it all and has found her way to happiness despite her hardships. https://katerudolph.net/index.php/books/braxtyn/

Q: What do you like BEST about being an author?

Kate: I love the freedom to get lost in stories.

Q: What do you like LEAST about being an author?

Kate: You have to keep writing, even when you really don’t feel like it.

Q: Any tips for aspiring authors?

Kate:  Figure out a way to write consistently. It doesn’t have to be every day, though that can be very helpful. But don’t just wait for inspiration to strike. Sit down and put words on the page, even if you think they suck. You can always edit those words later. You can’t edit a blank page.

Q: What is your favorite activity for the Fall?

Kate: Since it’s finally starting to thaw I’m happy to just be able to walk around my neighborhood outside without wearing 16 layers.

Thanks so much, Kate!
